The Strategic Energy Fund
A powerful opportunity set…
The global energy mix is in flux with renewable energy playing an increasing role, the US electricity infrastructure is ageing and in need of major upgrades and in places a completely new framework, extreme weather plays into both the supply and demand side in increasingly complex ways. The US electricity trading framework is still a very manual and segregated setup with constraints and inefficiencies. All of these forces combine and collide within the US electricity grid and the broader energy mix and major change is underway this decade. The Strategic Energy Fund looks for ways to harness these powerful forces.
This strategy involves trading electricity, natural gas, and short and long-term FTRs (Financial Transmission Rights) on the exchanges of Independent System Operators (ISO) across the country. Electricity by its very nature is difficult to store and must be available on demand, causing supply and demand to vary continuously. The Fund is led by a team with extensive experience in trading electricity on ISOs across the country and with time spend working in diverse roles around the ‘plumbing’ of the US grid. Currently TSF is not open to 3rd-Party Investors.
